Configuring Netscape News Options
With Netscape or Netscape News running:
- Choose Options | Mail and News Preferences
- Under the Composition tab, select 'Mime Compliant'. Not all news readers can
read 8-bit ASCII.
- Under the Servers tab, be sure to specify a valid outgoing mail server. Posting of messages may not work if this server is not a valid mail server.
- Under the Servers tab, specify newsgroups.borland.com if you wish to make Borland's news server your default news host (i.e., if you don't normally read news from a different site).
- Under the Servers tab, specify the number of messages you are downloading at a time. Netscape will not retrieve more messages per group than are specified in this line, so if you do not set this number to a high volume, you will not necessarily see all of the messages posted to a given group on a given day.
- Under the Identity tab, specify your name. If you wish to make your email address known to the public, set the e-mail and reply-to addresses appropriately. Note: Failure to set a Reply-to Address will, in most cases, prevent users from responding via private email to your news posts.
- Under the Organization tab, check Thread News Messages box, otherwise news messages will not be threaded.

Start in: C:\NEWDIR (The drive and name of the new directory.
- Copy the AGENT.INI file from your Agent\Data directory into the C:\NEWDIR directory. When you start Agent (if you've been using it already) you'll notice that all of your newsgroups have disappeared. This is normal, and when you run Agent from its normal shortcut, you will see your newsgroups again.
