PERSONAL ORACLE CONSIDERATIONS Two versions of Personal Oracle were released that we are aware of. One uses a version of SQL*Net 1.x with a netprotocol of "2" (the configuration of which is covered below, in the Personal Oracle readme file(s) with additional info on the Oracle web site) The other (Enterprise Edition) was released with a version of SQL*Net 2.x. The Enterprise editon connection should be treated the same way a connection to Oracle Server using SQL*Net 2.x would be: Can a connection using Nettest.exe or Plus31.exe be established? What is the connect string used for a successful connection from the above utilities? If using SQL*Net 2.x has the BDECFG Oracle driver/alias NET PROTOCOL setting been left blank? etc. Personal Oracle 7 "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" CONFIG EXAMPLES: Starting the Local Server: server: oracle7 start pass: oracle existing name: Scott existing pass: tiger ORACLE.INI [Oracle] LOCAL=2 REMOTE=2 ORACLE_HOME=D:\ORA7P BDE/SQL Links/ORACLE alias SERVER NAME ORACLE7 or blank NET PROTOCOL 2: username SCOTT password TIGER 4/26/95 "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" ID:CS1015 BC 12.7.95
