SQL LINKS DEVELOPER SUPPORT
SEARCH Borland Online/Developer Support
Subject: DB2 recap - - Borland's SQL Link for DB2 talks to IBM's CAE 2.1.1 - CAE stands for Client Application Enabler and is an ODBC-like API that is xOpen compliant - talking to local OS/2 using TCP/IP, IPX/SPX (though problem w/W95), NetBIOS and APPC requires no gateway. - talking to AS400 or MVS/VM machine requires a DDCS 2.1 and Comm Mgr 2.1 gateway running on NT, AIX, or OS/2. - DDCS 2.4 is in beta and is supposed to provide direct connection to AS400 from the workstation by the end of the year for increased performance.
