Borland JBuilder 3 Debugger Update

This software patch is being provided to licensed users of Borland JBuilder.   Installation and use is governed by the applicable license statement/limited warranty for Borland JBuilder.

This update addresses the following problems in Borland JBuilder version 3.0 (Enterprise, Professional and Standard):

Modifying an array element while debugging JDK 1.2 does not work. (70257)

Error: "Assert at line 853 of threadjv12.cpp" when launching the debugger with JDK 1.2. (64515)

For more information about the debugger and JBuilder, including FAQs and workarounds, please visit the JBuilder Developer Support web site.  We continue to track other problems in the debugger in order to find solutions.  If you have a problem, please report it via the Bug Submission Form.   Please be sure to include steps to reproduce, source code to help reproduce the problem and the exact text of any error messages encountered.

Installation instructions

There are three parts to applying this update:  Downloading the update file, moving the old files and installing the new files.  For these instructions we will use \JBuilder3 as the installed directory for JBuilder

Download

  1. Download the self extracting archive jb3DbgUpdate2.exe

Move the old files

  1. Rename the following two files:
    \JBuilder3\bin\BORdbk42.dll
    \JBuilder3\bin\dbkjvm42.dll

    Renaming/moving the files will allow you to undo this patch if you need to do so in the future. Rename the files by changing the names of the files, not just changing the extension as this does not always work.

Installing the new files

  1. Copy the self extracting archive jb3DbgUpdate2.exe to \JBuilder3\bin
  2. Run jb3DbgUpdate2.exe to extract the new versions of the debugger files. 
  3. On the Command line in a DOS window, or from the Start/Run dialog enter:

regsvr32 C:\JBuilder3\bin\BORdbk42.dll <Enter>
